With the year-end festive season just around the corner, Da Ma Cai through its Staff-In-The-Community programme, brought joy and laughter to Rumah Charis - Home For The Aged in Kuala Lumpur.
Da Ma Cai volunteer staff showed up at Rumah Charis with festive Christmas presents for the home’s elderly residents. The volunteers mingle with the residents after the goodies were handed to them. They were then treated to an entertaining magic show of amazing tricks. The frisky residents later partake in a game of Snakes & Ladders, where laughter erupted with every climb of the ladders and slithering down the snakes. A Christmas luncheon was then arranged for the residents to enjoy.
Providing shelters to the old folks
“It is very thoughtful of Da Ma Cai staff to bring warm blanket, fluffy socks and biscuits for us,” said Lee Ah Angu, aged 68, one of the elderly residents at Rumah Charis who has been there for 2 years.
“I am very happy that these young volunteers are taking their time out to celebrate Christmas and have some fun time with us,” said Peter Ling, aged 79, another resident.
In the spirit of giving, cash vouchers of RM7,000 was also handed over to Miss Tang, the representative of Rumah Charis to support the home’s endeavour in helping out the old and the aged.
“We are pleased to see all the uncles and aunties lovely and brilliant smiles when we presented the Christmas goodies. We also enjoyed their laughter during the interaction game session. It is definitely satisfying for a volunteer as we felt a great sense of accomplishment,” said a Da Ma Cai staff volunteers.
