Simple daily necessities can mean the world to an elderly neighbour in need. Embracing its core commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and community care, Da Ma Cai recently stepped forward with a RM10,000 sponsorship of essential groceries and daily necessities for the "2026 Senior Citizen Food Donation Drive" organised by Wu Seng Temple in Bukit Baru, Melaka.
This meaningful initiative was driven by a simple yet profound goal: to provide tangible life assistance to vulnerable elderly residents aged 60 and above. Demonstrated social inclusivity, the drive served senior citizens across all racial and religious backgrounds. Da Ma Cai’s sponsored items—together with the kind contributions of other local donors—were bundled into comforting grocery care packages and distributed to 410 senior citizens in the local community, ensuring their pantries are filled and their living burdens eased.
A Ripple Effect of Kindness: From Daily Meals to Medical Care
Together with Da Ma Cai, the temple, and various open-hearted donors, a total of RM70,267 was raised in cash and kind. During the event, Wu Seng Temple distributed 410 food packages and red packets to the elderly, while simultaneously contributing to a medical fund for 5 patients and allocating grants to charity and education organisations. This initiative successfully delivered warmth and care directly into the hands of those in need, with beneficiaries including the Bacang Charity Dialysis Centre and the SJKC Keck Seng Education Fund.
A spokesperson for Da Ma Cai shared from the heart, "Our senior citizens are the pillars of our society, having dedicated their younger years to nurturing our families and communities. When we heard about Wu Seng Temple’s vision for a drive that transcends race and faith, we did not hesitate to give our full support. Seeing the genuine smiles on the seniors' faces as they received these essential provisions reassures us of the beauty of giving back. At Da Ma Cai, we want our elders to know that they are never forgotten, and that this community will always stand by them in times of need."
The event coordinator from Wu Seng Temple expressed deep gratitude for Da Ma Cai’s immediate and generous backing, noting that the corporation’s heart for the community has set a beautiful example of local harmony, unity, and the timeless Malaysian spirit of mutual help.
